# Codex

> Add Spiral to Codex.

**1. Add the hosted server**

Add this to `~/.codex/config.toml`, keep `SPIRAL_API_KEY` set in your shell, then restart Codex:

```toml theme={null}
[mcp_servers.spiral]
url = "https://mcp.spiral.ai"
bearer_token_env_var = "SPIRAL_API_KEY"
```

**2. Verify**

```bash theme={null}
codex mcp list
```

**3. Try a starter prompt**

```text theme={null}
Find a text-to-image tool, tell me what one image costs, then generate a lighthouse at dawn.
```
